We teamed up with Severn Trent to inspect and clean a key asset that provides drinking water to 92,000 of customers in Birmingham and supports another water treatment works in Warwickshire.
The project involved weeks of collaborative planning to ensure the tank or “Service Reservoir” could be inspected, cleaned and returned to service without any impact on the public.
Hayley Locking, Severn Trent’s Ground Water Reservoir and Booster Manager for the area was delighted with the works and sent through a message of thanks to the Panton McLeod team.

Michael Hook, Key Account Manager at Panton McLeod explains, “The tank at Erdington is an important part of the supply network and holds drinking water as it travels from the treatment works to customer taps, therefore any period with the tank out of supply should be minimised.”
“To help our planning we used our mini-submarine (ROV) to assess condition and help plan the cleaning works, we then worked with the Severn Trent team to plan the best time for the tank to be drained for cleaning, this ensured we had the necessary resource available.”
“Once the tank was out of supply we mobilised a number of our teams and also worked with other members of the Severn Trent supply chain to transfer the waste waters offsite for disposal.”
“Although challenging at times the lads really put in the extra effort working late when required to ensure the tank was back in use as soon as possible.”
